Since Christmas, it has been a very cold and snowy winter with over 2 feet of snow on the ground for weeks. There was sledding, snowman making, tunneling digging and lots of shoveling… snow throwing, etc. Good times! Now that it is March, there is much anticipation for Spring and returning to the outdoors.
We also took a trip to Florida for a week in January to spend some time with Leigh's cousins to celebrate Aunt Joan's birthday. It rained a lot but we had a good time. We did some kayaking which was fun but Nora, Uncle John and I ended up in the water when we rolled just as we were coming into shore. Nora was very surprised and a little upset but nothing a dry towel and some clothes couldn't fix.
More recently, we did a bit of bowling and saw some movies, Frozen and The Lego Movie. The Lego movies has renewed the interest in Legos and resulted in a bunch of new characters being added to the collection which are sold in blind packaging so you do not know who you are buying. After some careful assessment of the pieces in the packages, we were able to get "Emmet" and "Wild Style".
The kids have also gotten there second marking period report cards and both are doing very well. I am amazed at how well they can read. Their favorite book to read is "Biscuit". Jack also likes his Lego Books about super heroes and Nora likes her Disney Princesses books. They have been learning about addition and subtraction as well as telling time.
I also grew a beard this winter and shaved it then grew another that was much bigger and shaved it off yesterday in the hope that this will prevent and future snow. They are calling for 12" tomorrow night, so we'll see how my plan works out. Here are some pics.
