Disney: Day 3 - Animal Kingdom

This is a new park since I had last been to Disney over twenty years ago, so we were all experiencing it for the first time. We all wanted to go on the roller coaster Expedition Everest and with no FastPass for it, we decided to go there first. The line was only 30 minutes and we got through it fast. The displays that lead you to the coaster were pretty interesting and included casts of supposed yeti footprints as well as expedition supplies. Once we were on the ride, we rode though the mountains to an area where the tracks were broken then you ride backwards with a brief yeti sighting before it ends. Pretty fun way to start the day. 

From there, we stopped into Dinoland and the kids and I rode a wild mouse-like ride called Primeval Whirl. Next we rode on the Kilimanjaro Safari ride where we saw a lot of animals, Lions, cheetahs, rhinos, hippos, wildabeasts, elephants, giraffes, crocodiles, as well as a bunch of other cool animals. As we were leaving the ride, we also saw two gorillas in their enclosure which was very cool.  

After this, we walked to the Tusker House restaurant where we had a sit down lunch at a buffet. There was lots to choose from including roasted chicken, beef, mashed potatoes, plantanes, chinoa salads, fresh vegetables, and tons more plus a bunch of desserts. Everyone ate well. As an added bonus, we got pictures with Safari Mickey, Goofy, and Donald and Daisy. This was probably our favorite meal experience to date.

We had a FastPass for Dinosaur soon after, so we were planning to head there. When leaving the restaurant we were met with a rain shower, so the ponchos came out of the backpack. Unfortunately, or rather fortunately, the rain stopped moments after the ponchos were on. So off they came and off we went to Dinosaur. We tried to get in early but had to wait for our designated FP time. We took a few pictures and read about a T-Rex skeleton named Sue, the most intact skeleton ever found in the Dakotas by a scientist named, Sue. We made it to our time and headed in only to find 20 minutes later that the ride was being closed for an undisclosed reason. Our passes were returned to us but we were not able to see the Dinosaur experience. 

Since it was late in the afternoon and it was especially hot, we headed back to the resort pool to checkout the large Nemo pool. It was pretty fun and even has music playing underwater. After the pool we grabbed a late dinner at the resort food court, took a couple photos with the Cars and called it a day.
