Disney: Day 4 - Hollywood Studios

Finally caught up. Today, we went to the former MGM Studios. I remembered some of the park from long ago, but most of it has changed and there is a heavy Star Wars theme to it now. So, our first destination was Star Tours, a simulated journey through space with 4D. The acceleration was not as intense as Mission Space, so everyone was fine. Having C3PO as a pilot definitely helps as he was more scared than anyone :) 

After, we went to a Frozen show with live actors and sing-alongs. We caught Nora and Jack both singing a few times. Leigh and I did too. The actors were funny and the fake snow at the end mixed with blasts of cool air made it a nice break from the heat too. From there, we went to the only ride I had been on before, The Great Movie ride which takes you through a bunch of movies including a western with explosions, the Wizard of Oz with the wicked witch, Alien (I knew when to have the kids close there eyes), and an Egyptian ruin that swallows up a runaway cowboy. 

Next, we grabbed some lunch at an outdoor cafe including pork barbecue, corn, chips, a huge chili cheese hot dog and Dory cupcakes with electric blue icing. Our FastPass was still a little ways off, so we headed to Star Wars, Path of the Jedi which had scenes from all 7 movies in it. Since the kids have only seen the first one, this raised a lot of questions and also fueled Jack's desire to get a Star Wars souvenir (he did get his X-wing fighter and collectible figurine set back at the resort tonight). 

This got us to the time for our FastPass on Aerosmith's Rockin' Roller Coaster. The line went fast and we were in the recording studio part of the line when the kids started to have second thoughts. When we got out to where you see the boarding process, they got to see a coaster launch and this did not ease them, Jack asked to bail just as we were getting into the corral for our seats. He changed his mind and we got in.  It does launch you from zero to full speed very quickly and almost immediately has you go upside down in the dark. Most of the ride was in the dark with music blasting, so it is unclear how scared or excited they actually were but at the end, they said it was fun!

This took us to about 2:45, so we tried to catch the 3:00 Indiana Jones stunt show which we were able to do. The kids had never seen a live show with fire, explosions, fake gun fire and stunt people falling from roofs, so I think they were really captivated by this. After, we had about an hour before dinner, so we hung out in the Star Wars Launch Bay playing some games and checking out the Star Wars replicas and characters. Jack was excited that he made two fiends while playing Star Wars on an X box.

Dinner was at a 50s inspired restaurant. Chicken pot pie, pot roast and ice cream desserts. The waitresses threatened, no dessert if you didn't eat your meat and no elbows on the table. After dinner, we came back to the resort to get Jack's toys and swim in the pool. Nora was excited that she made a friend named Avery who could see underwater. Nora didn't believe that someone could see without googles. We also watched fireworks right from our room. Another fun day.
