Disney: Day 5 - Park Hopping

We started the day at the Magic Kingdom since we had an early FastPass for Space Mountain. The line was pretty short and we were in the loading area before we knew it. I didn't remember that the carts were single file and 3 per car with 2 cars connected, so it was Nora in the front, then Leigh and Jack. I was in the second car front seat. Round a corner and up the pulsing light tunnel, then It was as dark as I remembered but longer than I thought. Since your shoulders and head are exposed, I found myself ducking unnecessarily a lot. The kids said it was fun but it was way too dark to see if they were scared at any point. Either way, they can say that they have riden on one of the most famous rides at Disney.  

After Space Mountain, we took a ride on the PeopleMover which was surprisingly fun as we zoomed around Tomorrowland with a Birdseye view of the rides as well as another quick view of Space Mountain from the bottom up. On our way out of Tomorrowland, we stopped at a show called the Laugh Floor inspired by Monsters Inc.  It was a mix of digital characters synced to live voices for a comedy show. It was pretty funny and a nice cool break. 

Next, we headed to Adventureland in search of a backpack since ours was falling apart.  As we made our way through the center of the park, we caught a parade with Mickey, Minnie, characters from Zootopia, and a bunch of others. Once we got to Adventureland, we perused a few pack backs but didn't get a new pack, but Nora decided on her souvenir which was a Jasmine costume. We took a ride on Aladdin's Carpet ride and watched the Enchanted Tiki room show. The animatronic birds were just as weird as I remembered. "In the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki room, with the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki birds..."

On our way out, we stop at The Sorcerors and found that it is a scavenger hunt through the park. Since we were leaving, we decided to hold off until tomorrow. We left the Magic Kingdom and got a bus to the Animal Kingdom to get lunch and use our missed FastPasses for Dinosaur. We ate lunch at Restaurantsaurus. We had burgers and fries, then headed over to Dinosaur. The line was short and soon we were watching the prep video about how we would be sent back 65 millions years to bring back a dinosaur. The ride was very dark with dinosaurs popping out everywhere and the car was tossing us back and forth. The kids did not really like it especially right after lunch. We stopped in The Bazaar near Expedition Everest and Leigh found a backpack that we liked. 

It was really hot at this point, so we decided to go back to the resort pool. We swam for about an hour and then a storm rolled in and they had everyone exit the pool. We headed back to the room and got ready for our dinner at Epcot. We had reservations at a Japanese hibachi restaurant called Teppan. As we were waiting for the bus at the resort, the rain started back up and it began to pour, so we got out the ponchos and wore them all through Epcot until we reached the restaurant which was at the farthest point from the entrance. Nora was wearing her new Princess Jasmine costume. The food was very good and the hibachi chef did a great job, including an onion volcano. We sat with a family from NJ who have been coming to Disney every other year for the last 20 years. They highly recommended Soarin' and so we checked the wait and it was only 30 minutes and last time we had checked it was 200 minutes, so we decided to check it out. It was a really fun as we were flown up with our feet dangling and swooped through various locations around the globe including Pais, the Great Wall of China, Fiji, and a bunch of other locations. It was dark when we got out, so we hopped a bus back to our room and watched fireworks out the window. It was a lot of walking but a great day!
